I’m new

One of the first ways that people contact our church in person is at our Sunday worship gathering. All are welcome, and you will see that in our church we have all kinds of people from very young to older, from singles to families of all kinds, people from different cultures and first languages, and people with varied interests. Just come as you are.

We call our Sunday mornings a ‘worship’ service because at the heart of our gathering and our lives is our desire to give God his worth. Singing songs is one way we give ourselves to God through singing about Him, and singing to Him. We read the Bible and listen to a message from it, because we believe that God speaks to us through the Bible and that it gives us His truth that transforms our daily lives. We welcome each other because we believe we are called to relationships in Christ and to be a community. We invite believers to participate in something we call ‘The Lord’s Supper’ because at the core of our faith is Jesus Christ and what He has done to save us from sin and connect us to a life-giving relationship with God.

It’s totally okay if this is all new to you. You are invited to come and participate as you are able, and to observe and learn from what we are doing. When you come on Sunday, don’t be afraid to tap someone on the shoulder and ask what is going on. We’ve all been there, and we want explain it to you so it is meaningful!

We meet at 11am on Sunday mornings at the Collingwood Neighbourhood House, in their main floor multipurpose room. Look for our sign just inside the main entrance. The address is 5288 Joyce St., Vancouver, just two blocks south of the Joyce-Collingwood Skytrain Station. Underground parking is available just off Euclid Ave, and the building is wheelchair accessible.

For our children:

At Urban Village Church, we want to encourage our families to have worship time together on Sunday mornings. If your family and children are new to our church, we ask that you come to the Children’s Church table as you arrive and fill out a Child/Parent Information Form. This is so we can get to know you and your child a little better. It also helps us in case of any emergencies where we need to contact a parent/guardian.

Children are a part of who we are and a part our worship service and yes, that means at times it can be a little noisy and chaotic. Parents, encourage your children to be in the worship service with you as much as they are able. In the middle of our service, we have a short break time for people to chat and meet. That’s when the children go with our capable Children’s Church teachers to a separate child friendly space in the Collingwood Neighbourhood House for their worship, learning, and activities. If you are still getting to know us, feel free to come with your children to see that they are comfortable and safe.
